Innovate UKs EDGE programme highlights dRISK’s Social Distancing Toolbox as a success story

13th May 2021 dRISK

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is the UKs first and foremost inclusive research and innovation system. They supply government grants to academia via research councils as well as to UK businesses via Innovate UK. The EDGE programme is offered to recipients of government grant funding and offers bespoke support that grows and scales innovative businesses. As part of our successful de-minimis application to help minimise the spread of COVID-19 in 2020, we were offered support via the EDGE programme. Our appointed business specialist Rifat Jan helped to promote and maximise dRISK’s Social distancing Toolbox and our work together has been featured as a UKRI success story.

Innovate UKs EDGE programme has helped a London-based provider of software and verification systems [dRISK] to find real world applications for a social distancing observation AI tool it developed through a £37,000 Innovate UK Covid-19 Fast Response grant.

Our business advisor was able to help us to find customers as well as help with making pitch decks perfect in order to maximise the potential of our tool. We were offered guidance and assistance throughout the project as well as opportunities we would not have found without Rifat’s help and advice. The EDGE programme allowed us to be mentored by industry specialists who have knowledge and experience of the UK ecosystem.
